Aptiv Interns Spread the Word

La Crosse, WI, March 7th, 2018 - The chilly March morning didn't hold back interns Megan and Laney from spreading the word to end the word. 30 UWL students signed the pledge to stop using the word "retard" in their daily language.

Why did they decide to sign?

“Cause it’s so degrading. It makes people feel bad about themselves. People have normalized it and don’t think it’s a big deal," student Lindsay said.

"I feel like it’s really important that people feel like they are apart of the community," another student, Nicole said.

Taking the r-word out of our daily language helps create an inclusive and accepting attitude of all individuals, and shows that everyone deserves respect.
