Joey on the rise

Janesville, WI, April 24th, 2018

From being laid off to now flourishing, Aptiv participant Joey is achieving his goals of employment.

Early 2017, Joey was laid off of his job and really wanted to get back into the workforce. Starting in March 2017, he began working with Jose Massas-Caraballo, a Job Developer/Employment Trainer at Aptiv.

With his resume, interview skills, and work ethic knowledge, Joey was hired at Festival Foods as a bagger in August 2017. Even though his first few weeks at Festival were a struggle for Joey emotionally and mentally, he was dedicated.

He showed up at work on time, asked if he could stay later and help out, and asked his supervisor if there were anything else he could do extra.

“I’m very proud of Joey for always doing his best,” Massas-Caraballo said. “Smiling for customers and building relationships with his co-workers.”

Now Joey has taken on the role of cart running at Festival, and is showing leadership in being his own advocate. Joey is proving he can do anything he puts his mind to.

“Joey has come a long way since he started,” Massas-Caraballo said. “I’m very proud to have worked with him. Keep it up Joey!”
