What are bathing and personal care services?

Bathing services provide an accessible showering/bathing facility for those who need one but may not have access to one in their home. Personal care is a wide range of things, including making sure a person gets their medication, assistance with eating lunch, helping with putting a jacket on when it's time to go outside, so in general, everyday parts of life.  

Some participants are able to come to Day Services because of the personal care and bathing options available in the same building. A participant can go to programming and also recieve help with brushing their teeth, shifting to a new position to avoid pressure ulsers if they sit in the same wheelchair all day, full bathing services with an accessible shower, among others. 

Some personal care service options can be small things including helping a participant from one Day Services class to another. 

Keeping up with societal standards of hygiene is important! And some people just need some assistance with taking care of these types of things! In addition, some people are able to live in their own home instead of a nursing home because they have accessible bathing services available to them.
