We’re thrilled to announce that three established and deep-rooted disability service providers are merging! Opportunity Center, located in Prairie Du Chien and established in 1965, Southwest Opportunities Center, located in Lancaster and established in 1960, and Aptiv established in 1977, with four on-site service locations, with a core service area covering 15 counties. This exciting merger is about combining our missions, growing our impact, supporting our teams, and opening new possibilities for the people we serve. By uniting our shared values and strengths, we’ll expand our reach and continue to empower even more individuals across Wisconsin.
By joining together, we’ll be able to learn from each other and what works best, and identify
opportunities for staff and for the people we support. Our collective experience and skills, and
talents will make all of our organizations stronger.
All current programs and supports will continue throughout the transition. The individuals served by all organizations can expect the same trusted care from the teams they are familiar with and know. At the same time, this merger brings added resources and support that will enhance what we can offer over time. We are focused on making sure services remain steady and that families feel confident and informed during the process.
The merger process will have several phases and will take a number of months to fully
complete. The legal merger of the organizations is set to be complete by the end of this year and into early 2026.
There are no immediate plans to close or relocate any services. As we move forward, we are taking the time to learn from each other and understand the unique needs of each community, as we get to know the individuals and teams that make those services successful. Our goal is to build on the strengths that are already in place by encouraging collaboration and sharing ideas across the merged organization. Any future changes will be thoughtful, person-centered, and focused on strengthening what works well.
